Hi,
I am having problems with a 29" sorm. When the sheet is sitting on the feedboard at the head stops the grippers try to grab it. I don't run presses any more but I did for 35 years. This is a friend of mine that runs this one and he has got it all screwed up. I have set everything I can think of but it still dose it. You can get it to quit but then if you move the head stops it dose it again. Driving me crazy somebody help me. Frank

Frank, You'll have to take the lower conver off and reshim the barrier assembly dog that swings in place to stop the grippers from closing. I'm sure this is the problem. Good Luck Steve

Hey Frank, Steve is right, in the lever is a cushion material that degrades, take an 11 mm socket, sharpen the edge and cut circles out of an old blanket, these will fit in place of the material to build up the stop.......the material acts as a shock absorber........

Hey Steve,
How's it going man? You were right about the problem I had with the grippers grabig the sheet on the feed table. The stuff under the pin that holds the grippers open was nothing but powder. I used the paper hole drill with the biggest bit I had. It was probably 10 mm but the peices were only a bit smaller then the hole. I put two peices under it and it held the grippers open and they didn't grab the sheet anymore. But my friend that works there and runs it had screwed with everything he could move and he can run the press and do good work but he can't even set rollers. He had it where it was ripping the gripper of the sheet and folding it back and stuff like that when it tried to pass it to the cylinder grippers. So I started at the begining and went to the other end reseting everything and now it will hair line register wide ass open like a heildelberg should do. I really appreciate the help man you saved me alot of trying to figure it out time. Hey John thanks for your help to man. Hope you have a good weekend. peace Frank |

Michael - Print begin (start of image) is at 14? Not sure what you mean. Is the plate cylinder at "0" in the coarse adjustment, under the g.s. swing open cover. More info please. Good Luck, Steve
