Can anyone assist with advice on the correct Delivery Gripper Settings for a KORD/KORS. I have removed all 3 gripper bars and have replaced all grippers. Is there a special setting that one must follow to adjust the grippers. I think there should be a special setting between the gripper opening bearing and the end of the gripper rail ?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated. |

Hamada - you'll find the gripper clamping piece nearest the cam follower lever is pinned to the shaft, this being your master gripper. You must back off all other grippers by loosening the clamping pieces and swinging them away from the pads. At this point you must set the distance from the bottom of the cam follower bearing to the top of the machined surface of the gripper bar, where the bar is fastened to the chain bracket. Here it gets sticky, because I can't find the measurement that is prescribed. Something like 40 mm, I looked for the number today, but will continue to search and post the number when I find it, or maybe someone else might post it.

Hamada - Are all units registering to each other? If so, you may want to look at your traveling feed grippers, the two at the feedboard. Check the urethane tips, if the urethane is worn out you should replace them. Also check that they are releasing the sheet at the proper time, they should not be throwing the sheet at the headstops nor should the sheet be slammed into the headstops. Check the spring(s) that are wound around the tube of the gripper assembly, make sure they are not binding or broken. Headstop assembly should move freely when rocked back and forth. Further, check that all grippers are moving freely at the swing gripper and the first impression cylinder, check the cam follower on the swing traveling feed gripper, swing gripper and the first impression cylinder. You mentioned it takes 30 sheets for the press to correct itself, this, in itself, does not point at anything specific, and it's unusual for the register to improve in time during the run, unless ink tack is causing the sheet to be pulled out of the impression cylinder/first transfer cylinder hand off. Does more or less coverage make a difference? Good Luck Steve

If I was there I could show you!
dont think there is an adjustment on that bearing. Just slacken off the gripper and use a piece of thin stock in the gripper. Hold the gripper closed with your fingers and tighten the 2 bolts. You should feel some resistance when you try to pull the stock out. If it tears the stock its too tight. If it comes out too easy its not tight enough. Adjust until you feel its correct. Sorry not to be more precise but its a suck it and see thing. And there are a few grippers to do. good luck! |
